Police Hope to ID Two Men Suspected in GameStop Robbery, Shoplifting 2018
Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps identify two men suspected of simultaneously committing crimes Tuesday at a local GameStop store.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery that occurred at the GameStop at 1455 Hickory Loop. Officers learned that a masked man entered the store, displayed a black handgun and demanded a PlayStation 4 and several games.
While an employee was busy with the armed robbery suspect, a second man entered the store, grabbed several PS4 games and left without paying for the merchandise.
At this time, police are not sure if the two suspects were working together or if the shoplifting suspect simply took advantage of the opportunity.
Both men fled the store and no injuries were reported. A PS4 console and more than 60 PS4 games were stolen by the two men.
The shoplifting suspect is described as about 6-feet tall and weighing more than 200 pounds. He wore a black mask, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
The shoplifting suspect is believed to be Hispanic. He was wearing a white T-shirt, khaki pants, red shoes and an Atlanta Braves baseball cap. Both of his arms appeared to be covered in tattoos.
Anyone with information that can help identify one or both suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.
