Garrison Flag to Fly Monday, September 17 for Constitution Day 2018

The City of Las Cruces garrison flag will be flown from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Park, on Roadrunner Parkway. The flag will fly in observance of Constitution Day.

The garrison flag is flown on traditional and patriotic holidays. The public is always invited to participate and help veterans raise and lower the flag. Volunteers who want to help should arrive at Veterans Memorial Park about 15 minutes before the flag is to be raised or lowered. Veterans will advise volunteers how they can help.

No formal ceremony is scheduled.

Constitution Day, or Citizenship Day, is a little-known federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed annually on September 17th, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787.
