2017 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant 2018
The City has“Bin” awarded! The City of Las Cruces is proud to announce it is a recipient of the 2017 Coca-Cola Foundation/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant. The City, one of 50 organizations nationwide to receive the award, will establish a public space recycling initiative for City events, athletic fields, parks, and walking trails with bins made possible from Keep America Beautiful and the Coca-Cola Foundation. Keep America Beautiful (KAB) has been an affiliate of the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) program for more than 20 years.
“The City of Las Cruces wants to make recycling as easy as possible at every opportunity, whether that’s curbside, trails, parks or City events,” says Sonya Delgado, Director, Parks & Recreation. “This award makes that possible and it’s the latest benefit of our long-time partnership with KAB/COCA-COLA.”
City departments collaborating on the recycling bin project are KAB, the Sustainability Office, Parks & Recreation, Utilities - Solid Waste, and South Central Solid Waste Authority, which coordinates the City recycling program. The bins that collect plastic bottles and aluminum cans, will be strategically placed along the Triviz Multipurpose Path and Outfall Channel, and at Apodaca Park, Young Park, and Veterans Memorial Park. They will drastically improve how the City manages recyclable materials in public spaces.
The bin location map is available on the City website at www.las-cruces.org/KLCB For more information, contact Keep Las Cruces Beautiful at 575/528-4506.
