“The 26.2-mile route through the high-desert terrain of the White Sands Missile Range just outside of Las Cruces is a somber reminder of war in more ways than one, with dozens of wounded warriors and veterans participating each year,” said a portion of a review of the race, conducted annually in and near the White Sands Missile Range main post.
The 29th annual Bataan Death Memorial Death March was conducted March 25, 2018 with more than 8,000 people participating in the event. In the early years of the memorial march, the event was staged in Las Cruces.
