Upcoming Tree Steward Training 2018

The recruitment process is now underway for the 2018 class of volunteer Tree Stewards. This Las Cruces Parks and Recreation program is dedicated to the recruitment and training of community volunteers to care for trees in public spaces and on their own property.

Training includes 28 hours of hands-on classes held from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursdays from Feb. 8 to March 22, at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center Auditorium, 304 Bell Ave. Classes are taught by experienced tree experts. In exchange for the training, Tree Stewards are asked to volunteer 40 hours of their time conducting such activities as planting trees, aiding in educational efforts like Arbor Day, and assisting in the maintenance of trees in Las Cruces parks.

Join the ranks of Tree Stewards who since 2012 have made the commitment to plant, grow, maintain, and promote our community forest.
