Photojournalist Roderico Y. Diaz to speak at Branigan Cultural Center 2018

Las Cruces residents are invited to the Branigan Cultural Center at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 to welcome Guatemalan photojournalist Roderico Y. Díaz.

Diaz will present his photography highlighting the pain felt by Guatemalans after mass killings rocked that country during the 1980s. Diaz photographed mass graves and followed the court proceedings of ex-military personnel accused of genocide.

Diaz’s presentation will be in association with his exhibition, “Defending Truth and Memory: The Path Towards Justice in Guatemala,” which will be on display at the New Mexico State University Museum, at Kent Hall, beginning Feb. 1.

Admission to the Branigan Cultural Center is free. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
