Lines Flushed at Pecan Acres 2018

Las Cruces Utilities will be flushing water lines in the Pecan Acres and University water systems, west and east of Interstate 10, between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. beginning tonight, Feb. 26, and continuing nightly through Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The affected areas include: New Mexico Highway 28, east to I-10; Union Avenue to Carver Road; and the Las Alturas area east of I-10.

The line flushing will remove iron and manganese that has accumulated in the water systems. Residents and businesses may experience low water pressure and discolored water during the flushing times.

Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and cold-water faucets in their house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call 575/526-0500 for assistance. The TTY number, for people who are hearing impaired, is 575/541-2182.
