Parking Lot Closure 2018

The entrance to the west parking lot of City Hall, on Main Street where statues of two lions are located, and the adjacent northwest parking lot, will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. today, April 3, for as long as the next six months.

The purpose of the closure is to establish a secured area that will allow for to the installation, assembly and display of a full-size replica of Virgin Galactic Spaceship II. Trucks delivering portions of Spaceship II will begin arriving at City Hall tomorrow, April 4, and the life-size model of the spacecraft will be reassembled on Thursday, April 5.

The display will allow Las Cruces residents and visitors an up-close view, and photo opportunities, of Spaceship II starting at 2 p.m. April 14, during the Las Cruces Space Festival.

Access to the west entrance of City Hall can instead be made through the parking lot entrance to Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., across from Fire Station 1. Signs will be posted to indicate the detour.
