June Events at Las Cruces Railroad Museum 2017
The Las Cruces Railroad Museum hosts activities during the month of June for everyone to enjoy!“Mrs. Prickett’s Story Time” is 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8. Join Mrs. Prickett and her delightful puppets as they read books and tell stories. A related activity appropriate for pre-school children will follow the story. Two other story times for children of all ages occur at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 and Saturday, June 17.
Coloring Club for adults will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 9 and Friday, June 23. Bring your book and colored pencils, or use our materials. We have a wide variety of pages ready to be colored, from simple pictures to intricate designs.
Summer hours for the Las Cruces Museums start in June, extending the hours until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. On June 25, two special evening Coloring Clubs will be held – one for adults, one for children from 5 - 6:30 p.m.
The whole family is invited to participate in Family Game Day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 10. The museum provides a variety of games that have been popular for centuries, as well as wooden and jigsaw puzzles. The tradition of playing Jacks can be traced back to ancient Greece, with dozens of variations. The origin of Dominos can be traced to 13th century China before they made their way to Europe in the 18th century, to eventually become the game we’re familiar with today.
On Saturday, June 10 the National Model Railroad Association will hold their monthly meeting, which is open to the public. Learn techniques for building and enhancing model train layouts.
The museum is located at 351 N. Mesilla Street and is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
