Well 70 Returns to Service 2017

The City of Las Cruces Water Utilities will perform a fire hydrant flushing exercise at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. The exercise is in preparation of placing Well 70 (2250 Espina Street), into service.

This action could create discolored water for residents and businesses in the area. Affected areas may range from Idaho Avenue south to Union Avenue and from Main Street east to Locust Street. Door hangers will be distributed to those who may be affected.

The discoloration is due to naturally occurring iron and manganese in the water. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

Any discoloration should disappear within 24-hours. If it does not, residents and businesses should flush all cold water faucets for five minutes. If discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for assistance.
