Water Restored After Farney Lane, Hixon Drive Main Break 2017

Water has been restored to residents and businesses in the area of Main Street east to El Paseo, and University Avenue north to Apollo Drive after a water main break had occurred.

Water employees estimated the water to be restored within 3 hours. Water was eventually restored at 3 p.m.

The City of Las Cruces Water section was on site helping to repair the main and was working to complete a water line tie-in.

City employees informed affected residents of the outage with hanging door notices. Area residents may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

As a reminder, the discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and/or cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 526-0500 for assistance.
