Valve Exercising Activities (June 1 – 9)

Residents and businesses in the areas near Downtown may experience low water pressure, no water, or discolored water from Thursday June 1– 9.

The City of Las Cruces, Water Section will be exercising valves in the area. This work is being done in preparation of the Rehab project that will be starting in June in the downtown area.

The affected areas could include those around Mesquite Street, Alameda Avenue, Amador Avenue and Main Street.

Area residents may notice discolored water due to iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush outside and/or cold-water faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 526-0500 for assistance.
