City to Begin Enforcing Newly-Adopted Building Codes 2017

The City of Las Cruces has adopted and will begin enforcing the 2015 International Building Code/International Residential Code (IBC/IRC) 2015 New Mexico Commercial Building Code (NMCBC)/New Mexico Residential Building Code (NMRBC) for construction in Las Cruces, effective July 1, 2017. Until then, permits may be issued under either the previously-adopted codes, or the newly adopted codes.

After July 1, 2017, permits will be issued only under the following codes:

2015 IBC (NMCBC)

2015 IRC (NMRBC)

2015 International/NM Existing Building Code

2009 International/NM Energy Conservation Code

2015 International Fire Code

2012 Uniform/NM Plumbing Code

2012 Uniform/NM Mechanical Code

2012 Uniform/NM Solar Energy Code

2012 Uniform/NM Swimming Pool and Hot Tub Code

2014 National/NM Electric Code
