Earth Day Fair 2017
Las Cruces Earth Day Fair
Earth Day is April 22, and this year the City of Las Cruces, NMSU’s Office of Sustainability, OASIS (Organization of Aggie Students Inspiring Sustainability) student club, OYE! and many other organizations have collaborated to offer a free, fun-filled day at the Plaza de Las Cruces from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be live music and dance, a recycle fashion show, City-run kids and teen activities, local foods, educational booths, tree adoptions, and presentations from local scientists and environmentalists.
This year’s fair will also be a zero-waste event with compost/recycling centers for food scraps, paper and plastic staffed by friendly volunteers. Food vendors will serve local treats on biodegradable plates ready for compost. Fair goers are enthusiastically encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles, and instead of taking paper handouts from the various organizations participating in the fair, to visit their websites instead.
The complete event schedule is available here.
