East Area Command

The Las Cruces Police Department's East Area Command is responsible for patrolling the city's geographical area east of Interstate 25 and covers approximately 37 square miles with a population of 40,343.

The East Area Command includes High Range, Sonoma Ranch, Four Hills, Mesilla Valley Mall and Telshor neighborhoods along with the city's East Mesa. The East Area Command is overseen by Deputy Chief Miguel Dominguez and Commander Paul Brock.

Shooting Firearms Illegal within City Limits

A common problem seen, primarily on the city's East Mesa, is target or recreational shooting of firearms in undeveloped areas within city limits. It is illegal to discharge firearms anywhere inside city limits, including undeveloped or desert areas within city limits. Non-emergency concerns on incidents that occur in the undeveloped areas of the East Area Command can be directed to Commander Paul Brock.
