Investigative & Support Division
The Las Cruces Police Department's Investigative and Support Division is headed by Deputy Chief Justin Dunivan and Commander Rebecca Kinney, and includes the Criminal Investigations Section, Traffic Section and Administrative Support Section.
Deputy Chief Dunivan has more than 18 years of law enforcement experience with the Las Cruces Police Department and has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, firearms instructor/armorer, K-9 Handler, member of the SWAT Team, sergeant, and lieutenant of the West Area Command before being promoted to Deputy Chief of Police in December 2013 commanding the Las Cruces Police Department’s Operations Division.
After the department’s recent reorganization, Dunivan now oversees the Investigative and Support Division of the Las Cruces Police Department. The division includes the Criminal Investigations Section, the Traffic Unit, Administrative Support, Metro Narcotics and the budget planning for the department.
Deputy Chief Dunivan is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and New Mexico State University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Engineering Technology. He has lived in southern New Mexico for the majority of his life and continues to enjoy the Las Cruces community in providing public safety.
Criminal Investigations Section (detectives, Victims Assistance Unit, evidence and identification, crime analyst, warrant officer, computer forensics and the NCIC office).
Traffic Section (traffic patrol, hit-and-run office and School Crossing Guards).
Administrative Support Section (LCPD front office, Records and Transcription)
