Deputy Chief Justin Dunivan

Deputy Chief Justin Dunivan has more than 18 years of law enforcement experience with the Las Cruces Police Department and has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, firearms instructor/armorer, K-9 handler, member of the SWAT Team, sergeant, and lieutenant of the West Area Command before being promoted to Deputy Chief of Police in December 2013 commanding the Las Cruces Police Department’s Operations Division. This included the Patrol Division, SWAT Team, Traffic Unit, Special Services Section and the budget.

After the department’s recent reorganization, he now oversees investigative and support divisions of the Las Cruces Police Department. This includes the Criminal Investigations Section, the Traffic Unit, Administrative Support, Metro Narcotics, and the budget planning for the department.

Deputy Chief Dunivan is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and New Mexico State University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Engineering Technology. He has lived in southern New Mexico for the majority of his life and continues to enjoy the Las Cruces community in providing public safety.
