The Las Cruces Recreation Section Afterschool Program was designed to provide an affordable, quality After School program for children during the regular school year. The program helps children develop their academic, physical, and social skills in a safe and caring environment. The three major components of the program are educational, nutritional, and recreational, with all three given the same importance. The Program runs concurrent with the Las Cruces Public School Calendar and serves over 300 school aged kids. This boasts a 15-1 ratio and the City provides staff that are professional, motivated, and multicultural role models for the children.
2017-2018 Afterschool Program Registration
The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department held lottery registration for the 2017-2018 After School Program during regular business hours, Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 21 at: the Parks and Recreation Department Office, 1501 E. Hadley Ave., Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 Bell Ave., Las Cruces Regional Aquatics Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., and Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.
The initial registration for the After School Program is determined by lottery selection only. Please follow above link to view lottery results. Space is limited, lottery sign up is always encouraged.
The program is available to children kindergarten through grade 5 and the cost per semester is $400, or four payments of $100. All session program hours are Monday through Friday, 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. The cost per session does not include fees associated with field trips.
