Parent and Child Aquatics

In level 1 children learn basic skills through fun activities, such as blowing bubbles and playing with water toys. In Level 2 parents work with their children to practice floating, kicking and swimming back and forth to the sides of the pool.

Preschool Aquatics (Swimming Course for Children)

Level 1 helps children become comfortable in the water and basic water safety. Level 2 builds on Level 1 and introduces fundamental skills, such as kicking and builds on Level 1. Level 3 focuses on coordinating arm and leg movements and improving upon skills learned in Levels 1 and 2.

Learn to Swim Courses

Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Level 3: Stroke Development

Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency


The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will offer swim lessons from Oct. 10 through Oct. 20, at the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave. Classes will be Monday – Thursday. Cost per session for Learn to Swim and Pre School lessons is $45, cost for Adult Swim is $60 per session.

Class times for each level are:

  • Level 1: 6 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Level 2: 6:40 - 7:10 p.m.
  • Level 3: 7:20 - 7:50 p.m.
  • Adult Swim: 8 - 8:45 p.m.

Registration will be at the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and Oct. 1.

Level “Completion Certificates” are required or participant must take a swim evaluation. Swim evaluations will be available throughout the month of September from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. No swim evaluations will be given during registration times. Class space is limited.
