Councillor Dolores Connor
Term 2007 to 2011

Councillor Dolores Connor

Dolores Connor

Councillor

I am a third generation Las Crucen, educated in the Las Cruces Public School District, attending MacArthur Elementary, Alameda Junior High and Mayfield High School.

I began my professional career at Mutual Building & Loan in Las Cruces. During my 18 years there, I worked in virtually every department, and completed my tenure as Vice President of Operations. It was during my time at Mutual that I began my community involvement in civic organizations through board appointments and as a fundraiser. In 1993, I left my banking career to become an entrepreneur. I purchased a local retail small business and remained active in the community.

The desire to serve the community led me to run for city council. I was elected to represent District 2 in 2003 and re-elected in 2007, serving as Mayor Pro-Tem from 2005 through 2007.

Serving the public on city council and during my time in the private sector, I have come to appreciate the concern citizens across the city have for Las Cruces. While I have an interest in many facets of the city, two areas in particular are of critical concern to me; public safety and economic development.

Neighbors should feel safe in their homes and in the community.  It is also important that we bring quality, high paying jobs, with benefits, to Las Cruces to employ our present and future residents.  Through the increase of employment we can keep our quality of life and encourage new and old families to choose Las Cruces as their home.

I am married to William Connor and we are the proud parents of three children.
