[ARCHIVED] Kudos to Officer Austin Kane

From: Lisa Montoya, Commendation Board

In November, Officer Kane (L850) responded to a call for an individual in crisis. He responded to the call promptly and was able to quickly deescalate the situation. At first, the individual was unwilling to seek treatment but Officer Kane was able to talk him into getting help. A clinic manager, who was on scene during the crisis, was very impressed with how quickly Officer Kane established trust with the individual and reached a resolution that all parties involved were satisfied with. Officer Kane, in his dedication and service to our community, then went the extra mile of educating the staff on state laws that apply to people in crisis. The LCPD Commendation Board would like to thank Officer Kane for peacefully deescalating this situation. His quick and compassionate actions led to a positive ending to what was initially a very tense situation and should be commended.
