Weekly meetings of Nar-Anon, a 12-step program for friends and family members who are or have been affected by someone’s drug or narcotics addiction, are being conducted at 5:30 p.m. every Saturday at Mesilla Valley Community of Hope Resource Room, 999 W. Amador Ave.
Nar-Anon, known as “Nar-Anon Family Groups,” is complementary to, but separate from, Narcotics Anonymous. The Nar-Anon Family Groups are a worldwide fellowship, and its program of recovery is adapted from Narcotics Anonymous and utilizes its Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts.
To join Nar-Anon, simply attend a meeting. The nonprofit, non-professional group does not charge dues or fees. The only requirement for membership is that there be an addiction problem in a relative or friend.
At weekly meetings, members share their experiences, strengths and hopes to solve common problems. Nar-Anon is not a replacement for, nor does it provide, professional treatment.
Nar-Anon Family Groups is based in Torrance, California. For information about meetings at Mesilla Valley Community of Hope call 315/842-1919 or 800/477-6291 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Online information is available at https://www.nar-anon.org.
