LGBT Voices

The Branigan Cultural Center is pleased to announce Voices of Change: LGBTQ Activism, a new exhibit that highlights the stories of LGBTQ individuals and organizations from southern New Mexico, as well as national and state landmark social justice events and legislation. It will feature two blocks from the National AIDS Memorial Quilt that commemorate New Mexicans and El Pasoans who have died from AIDS. There will also be artwork by regional LGBTQ artists and memorabilia that highlights and honors LGBTQ history in the region. The exhibit runs from September 21-October 26, 2019.

Members of the LGBTQ community and representatives from organizations such as Southern New Mexico Pride, PFLAG, and Singing Out Las Cruces assisted in the development of the exhibition, sharing the history of personal and community activism in southern New Mexico and west Texas.

The museum is located at 501 N. Main St. and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum is accessible from RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 36. For additional information, visit the website at or call 575/541-2154.
